Planting Potatoes

On Friday, March 15th, we planted our spuds in four different buckets. Because the potatoes weren't quite sprouted to where they should have been, we decided to make a hypothesis as to which buckets would grow first; the ones planted earlier but with small sprouts or the one planted later but with larger sprouts. All students hypothesized that the potatoes planted later with larger sprouts would be more successful.

Potatoes needed to be planted 4 cm deep, 10 cm away from the edge, and five to a bucket. Students had to mix plant food with the soil to ensure the potatoes are given adequate nutrition throughout their growth. We will be harvesting our potatoes in June.
